Mira Nair’s Queen Of Katwe generates Oscar buzz with a special screening for Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences


Mira Nair’s ‘Queen of Katwe’ has already generated rave critical reviews at various premieres and festivals. And it looks like Queen Of Katwe is already en route for a presence at the next Oscars!

The stars of the film Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo presented the film at a special screening in New York hosted by the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences.

“Queen of Katwe” is based on the vibrant true story of a young girl ‘Phiona Mutesi’ from the streets of Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and opens in India on 7th October,2016.

Oscar-winner Lupita, who plays Phiona’s fiercely protective and indefatigable mother, Harriet, said that while she was not yet a mother, she learned about the selflessness of motherhood.

‘It’s almost like your heart is dislocated and running around and just feeling the fear, inhabiting the fear of a mother letting her chicks out every day to survive,’ she said.

Amitabh Bachchan seen in 7 new Avatars in Tata Sky’s “Family Jingalala” campaign

 

Mumbai, September 23rd, 2016: Tata Sky, the fastest growing brand in the DTH industry and a pioneer of innovative services, has rolled out its latest ‘Family Jingalala’ campaign with Amitabh Bachchan. The campaign directed by National Award-winning director Shoojit Sircar, starring silver screen icon, Amitabh Bachchan in seven unique avatars will be aired on September 24th, 2016.

 

TV viewing is a family activity. TV forms the most important source of entertainment for the entire family. But they have gotten used to the stale and inferior entertainment on offer just because it is cheap or free. The idea is to show what a wide world of entertainment and good quality service awaits them if they subscribe to Tata Sky” says Tata Sky’s Chief Communications Officer, Malay Dikshit.

The campaign sees Mr. Bachchan playing the role of a showman in an unconventional bohemian look, (himself) singing the story of a regular family. He reveals how all their needs can be met by subscribing to Tata Sky – The best DTH connection for a varied range of entertainment.

 

Malay stated, “Family Jingalala targets 85% of country’s population that lives outside the metros. To cut across all age & socio-income groups, there could have been nobody better than the best entertainer in India, Mr. Bachchan to bring this vision to life.”

‘Family Jingalala’, the campaign tells the story of a regular family where each member has vastly different entertainment and content needs. Amitabh Bachchan explains how these can be met through Tata Sky, highlighting the expansive breadth of the brand’s offerings and its significance in a family’s everyday life.

 

The high-decibel TV campaign will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign including hoardings, bus backs, wall paintings, bill backs and cinema halls apart from television ads. Tata Sky is also rolling out five language versions of the campaign by 4th October in Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.

Emraan Hashmi fans eagerly awaited the release of the 4th installment of Raaz, Raaz Reboot, a franchise that is synonymous with the actor

While the Raaz brand and Emraan’s popularity managed to get the film to take the highest opening after Salman Khan starrer Sultan in single screens with an impressive 50-75% in various single screen centers pan-India, it failed to hold steady owing to the sheer absence of Emraan on screen for most of the film.

Says a source, ” Raaz Reboot opened to a stupendous response on Day-1, thanks to the Emraan Hashmi’s massive fanbase but left the trade and the actor’s fans disappointed.Raaz has been a franchise that Emraan Hashmi has been synonymous with and it was obvious that the actors fans were expecting much more of his screen time in the film. While they clamored to the theaters and were infact responsible for the encouraging opening response, the collections dropped owing to the sheer absence of Emraan on screen for most of the film .The actor continues to have a strong single screen fanbase, which ended up acting as the only saving grace for the horror entertainer

Music baron Bhushan Kumar has built singles into a big alternative stream of music in Bollywood and is creating a record this year by launching numerous blockbuster singles. With his next single, “Ik Vaari“, Bhushan Kumar has launched the spunky young actress Aisha Sharma. Aisha will be seen sharing the screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana who has given his voice to the song.

With ‘Ik Vaari’, for the first time Ayushmann Khurrana and his brother Aparshakti have collaborated. The song has been written and composed by both Ayushmann and Aparshakti. The song was shot in Georgia and has been directed by Pradeep Sarkar.
