7 Hours Is What It Took For Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor To Get Into 102 Not Out Look

102 Not Out will see Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor sharing screen space after a gap of 27 years. In the film, Mr. Bachchan will be seen playing Rishi Kapoor’s father. Considering the fact that both the actors have to play their character more than their actual age, a lot of prosthetics and make up was used to make them look like their character’s age.

Director Umesh Shukla states that it would take his ageing protagonists a staggering seven hours for make-up every day. This would be followed by six hours of shooting. He says, “Initially, I thought they would get irritated with the long-winded process but the make-up actually helped them emote and complemented their characters really well. Both Amitabh sir and Rishi ji would walk onto the sets at 5 am with a different kind of energy and we would commence shooting after lunch and go on till 6 pm. At times, the shoot extended to 9 pm. But that mostly happened when we were in the midst of shooting a scene and wanted to can it in one shift for the sake of continuity,” says Umesh adding that the film’s team shot for nine nights in the 45-day schedule in Mumbai.

He further adds that while Bachchan’s dentures were manageable, Kapoor’s bald cap was a cause of concern. “Rishi ji, who plays a 70-year-old character, would feel extremely hot in it. Whenever he removed it, and I am not exaggerating, it looked like he was sweating by the glass. He had to wear that cap for at least 12 hours every day,” he revealed.

The film has been written by Saumya Joshi (director of the eponymous Gujarati play on which the film is based) and directed by Umesh Shukla.

A Sony Pictures Releasing International Production and worldwide distribution- 102 Not Out is Produced by SPE Films India, Treetop Entertainment and Umesh Shukla’s Benchmark Pictures. The film releases worldwide on 4th May 2018

#PictureTimedigiplex raises Rs. 25 Crore in Pre Series A funding led by Ajay Relan of CX Partners

The mobile movie theatre start-up offers a high quality movie experience at affordable prices in rural areas

n Funding will be used to expand PictureTime’s mobile Digiplex cinema theatres to 100 operational units by March 2019

Mumbai, 7th March 2018 – India’s first mobile digital movie theatre (MDMT) start-up, PictureTime has secured Rs 25 crores at an undisclosed valuation in a Pre Series A financing round from a group of HNIs led by Ajay Relan , Founder Chairman CX Partners. This follows the initial seed funding by Picture Time Chairman Mr. Rohit Chand, Ashish Gupta and Sanjeev Agrawal of Helion Ventures, Asim Ghosh (ex- Vodafone India CEO) and Abhinav Sinha of Eight Road Ventures.

The funding will be used to expand PictureTime’s mobile digiplex cinema theatres to 100 operational units by March 2019, making it one of the largest cinema operators in the country. Picture Time has created a unique, one-of-a-kind mobile digiplex cinema theatre unit with a fireproof inflatable canopy that can accommodate 120 viewers. Within two hours the air-conditioned mobile digiplex cinema theatre is fully functional, complete with seating arrangements and world-class digital projectors with surround sound for a high quality cinema experience. Tickets are priced in the range of Rs 30/- to Rs 50/-.

The outside areas of the digiplex are converted into a local food court and entertainment and gaming activities giving audiences in small semi-urban and rural areas accessibility to a multiplex cinematic experience. The mobile digiPlex cinema theatres also create digital marketplaces equipped with multiple facilities in the locations they visit. By creating 100-meter-wide intranet sites, they also provide facilities like Wi-Fi hotspot and micro ATMS facilitating villagers to make bank transactions or mandatory Aadhaar linkages.

Speaking on the new round of funding, Mr. Sushil Chaudhary, the founder and CEO of PictureTime said,Our aim is to use technology to not only provide high quality entertainment to rural India, but to also use our mobile digiplex cinema theatres as an outreach vehicle to generate awareness on educational and government schemes on initiatives around Digital India, Skill India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. We are also trying to curb the problems of piracy in remote rural areas by releasing new movies simultaneously in the locations we are present in.”

Speaking on the business model and scalability of PictureTime, Mr. Ajay Relan, Founder Chairman, CX Partners said “Picture Time provides unique dual benefits to the rural population of India – a state of the art cinema experience as well as an outreach medium for both social messaging and private advertising all under one umbrella. By offering low cost mobile cinema halls, the venture will help address the severe cinema theatre crunch by increasing the screen count in remote parts of the country.”

Established in October 2015 PictureTime introduced mobile digiplex cinema theatres in an effort to increase the number of cinema screens in India. Picture Time is currently operating 10 mobile digiplex cinema theatre units and has so far showcased movies in remote villages of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The mobile digiplex cinema theatres also offer government and private organizations the perfect outreach vehicle to promote their schemes to the rural population at large.

Vidya Balan, Rajkumar Rao sweeps the prestigious & most transparent Powerbrand-Bollywood Film Journalists Awards!!

A night after the Oscars, The 2018 edition of Power Brands-Bollywood Film Journalist’s Awards, organized by Planman Motion Pictures and Daily Indian Media, was held at Hotel Orchid on March 5th. Virtually all the winners from all categories who were present in Mumbai turned up at this glittering night of honesty and transparency.

Started with the clear ambition of being the Oscars of India this is India’s only film awards decided on the basis of Open Ballot Voting.

Arindam Chaudhuri, the man behind Planman, thanked the voting jury profusely for their integrity and courage for exercising their ballot in a very transparent manner. 22 of the most prominent film critics decided who deserved the trophies for Hindi cinema 2017 in the categories submitted by DailyIndia.com. The voting was done individually and on mail, and the detailed results of who has voted for whom can be seen on the website of Power-Brands.

Apart from being Open Ballot and highly credible due to voting being restricted only to film critics, the award also is unique as it honours not just the winner but the associate winner as well.

The best actress award winner Vidya Balan as well as the Best Actor award winner Rajkumar Rao were personally present. This year was unique because in the Best Actor category Rajkumar Rao took away both the winner and the associate winner awards for his stellar performances in Trapped and Newton. He also won the best supporting actor award for his role in Bareilly Ki Barfi. In the supporting actor category female Seema Pahwa and Meher Vij took the honours. I have always believed in working on films that offers me something new to explore. And anything that’s new can either be a success or a flop. But when you are recognized for taking up challenges, that encourages you to do better in life.

Rajkumar Rao: I think this is one of those moments when you feel good about yourself. As an actor, I choose the best I get offered, and when that work gets recognized by 22 eminent journalist from across the country, that reinstall faith in the work that I am doing. Thanks for the appreciation.

Raveena Tandon: This Award is one of the most democratic award, because of its transparency. This will also remain very special for me, because this this for the first time that I am receiving an award with my husband Anil Thadani. If I am the “power” than he is the “brand”, we compliment each other.

The guest of Honour of the evening was the Polish Ambassador to India H. E. Adam Burakowski- was the Guest of Honor and kept everyone entertained with his Hindi from time to time. Minister of Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu sent video message for the winners.

Prof. Chaudhuri said “I do hope the industry supports this unique effort in full force in the coming years so that such genuine awards are promoted where awards are not given on the basis of attendance but on the basis of merit. I did hope one day Aamir Khan takes back his vow of not attending any awards functions and makes his first appearance here due to its completely transparent nature.”

The Power Brands-Bollywood Film Journalist’s Awards, organized by Planman Group began with a mission and vision to recognize excellence and honor the finest in cinematic achievements, with high integrity and transparency and become the true voice of creative filmmaking.

Recent surveys have proved that viewers are being dismissive of the plethora of popular awards being dished out, which have been ‘contaminated’ with star power, and have wandered away from celebrating true talent, to become a big publicity party.

As Prof. Chaudhuri stated, “Awards are given even if you merely attend an awards ceremony, or at the diktat of channels that want viewership. We decided to entrust the selection to critics who have been watching films every week for years.” The company plans to expand its base of journalists in the next edition to at least double in the next edition.
