The 76th British Academy Film Awards, the UK’s biggest celebration of global excellence in film, will take place at the Royal Festival Hall in London in February 2023. As part of the campaign, Gangubai Kathiawadi will be submitted for BAFTA members’ consideration in all categories including Best Film, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Leading Actress and Film Not in the English Language.
Gangubai Kathiawadi had its World Premiere at the 72nd Berlinale International Film Festival in February earlier this year, where it received a standing ovation and rave reviews. The film went on to earn a total of over $23 Million (£19.9M) at the global box office.
After a successful worldwide theatrical run, the film premiered on streaming platform Netflix landing at No.1 (Non-English Film) in the first week. The film also stayed in the Top-10 trending movies list in more than 25 countries for several weeks. It has become the second most viewed non-English language film on the streamer globally to date.

Mumbai…November 2, 2022…Champ Endurance, India’s one of passionate fitness-promoting company that encourages running, swimming, cycling, and sports events across the country, is organizing Jio Mumbai Cyclothon, one of the most awaited sporting event of Mumbai to be held on Sunday, 13th November 2022 at Parinee ground, Near ONGC Building BKC.
Shri. Amit Ghawate, IRS, Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai announced Jio Mumbai Cyclothon at the press conference today. IPS Krishna Prakash, Ironman, Ultra-man, finisher race across west and motivational speaker is the Honorary Race director. Also present at the press conference were Abhijeet Mohite, Deputy Secretary, Cycling Association of Maharashtra, Adv. Shishir Hiray, Special Public Prosecutor, Govt. of Maharashtra, Shri Shivdas Gurav, Asst. Commissioner Ward A, BMC, Anang Basu, Enerzal Marketing Head, Nilesh Kumar, GHO Director, Firoza, Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai and Sharmila Munj, Founder, Har Ghar Cycle are the face of the event.
The various pedal and cycling categories include 5kms and 10 kms (Joy rides), 25 kms (Pink Pedaling – Women’s only), 25kms – (Men’s only), 50 kms and 100 km. A special category of 75 km (Ride for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) was also announced as a tribute to India’s glorious 75 years of independence.
Jio is the title sponsor of Mumbai Cyclothon, and there’s a special state level “Jio True5G Race” category in partnership with the Cycling Association of Maharashtra (CAM). This is for pro-cyclists, men and women above 19 years of age. For men, the distance is 84 kms and the total prize money for the podium finishers is Rs. 165,000/- and for women, the distance is 42 kms and total prize money for the podium finishers is Rs. 140,000/-. There’s also a Masters Men category (41 years+) covering a distance of 42 kms and total prize money for the podium finishers is Rs. 49,000/-.

Hemkunt Foundation today announced the onboarding of pan-India star & youth icon, Taapsee Pannu to its Advisory Board. With this announcement, the award-winning actress becomes the first female ambassador of the foundation. She will be working with the foundation to generate awareness about accessible and affordable healthcare.

Like last year, Government of India has launched its sequel 2.0. which is being undertaken in the current year by Department of Posts from 2nd October to 31st October 2022. In a press meet held on 21st October, 2022, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Smt. Veena Srinivas, in consonance with the Special Campaign 2.0 appraised on the focus areas which includes timely and effective disposal of public grievances; references from Members of Parliament; State Governments; Inter-Ministerial Consultations; Parliamentary Assurances; PMO references; conduct of cleanliness drives; review and weeding out of files; disposal of scarp; freeing up of space and putting it to constructive use. Smt. Veena Srinivas, Chief Postmaster General enlightened on the activities being carried out in the Maharashtra Postal Circle. In respect of public grievances, she mentioned that 8039 complaints were received since April 2022, of these 8005 i.e 99% of the grievances were settled. The public grievance are monitored through the CPGRAMS which provides real time redressal and online monitoring of the disposal and pendency of these grievances. A special emphasis was laid for cleaning of all the post offices/Postal colonies and weeding out of the records in the Circle. A video clip on the Shredding of the records and a clip on the revamping of the Vengurla Post Office under Sindhudurg Postal Division was played during the meet. Smt. Veena Srinivas appraised the media on the several other initiatives/activities carried out in the Circle viz Blood Donation Camps, awareness of TB, Cancer awareness camps, Tree plantation drives, Saving Bank & IPPB campaigns etc. All the campaigns are closely monitored and supervised by the Senior Officers of the units. Smt Veena Srinivas, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle mentioned of the 20.17 Lakhs Saving bank accounts opened in the Circle. The drive/campaign conducted during 12th September to 30th September 2022 gave a boost to garner around 3 lakh accounts. Mumbai, October 18, 2022 Anshumman Joshi-led Dhanvarsha Group, a leading business conglomerate engaged in several sectors including finance and banking, will be investing Rs 150 crore in the share capital of the Samarth Sahakari Bank Ltd. Solapur to convert it into a Small Finance Bank as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) norms. The Group executed a Private Placement Agreement pertaining to invest of Rs. 150 crore into the bank as per Section 12 of the Banking Regulations Amendment Act 2020. The Agreement for Private Placement was recently signed by Mr Anshumman Joshi, Chairman, Dhanvarsha Group. On behalf of the Samarth Sahakari Bank, it was signed by the Chairman Mr Dilip Yashwant Atre. Samarth Sahakari Bank Ltd., Solapur, is a leading bank in Solapur in the cooperative sector with 32 branches across Maharashtra. “We are expressing our interest by way of a firm proposal to infuse/invest sizable capital to the tune of Rs. 150 crore in the share capital of the Samarth Bank by way of private placement under Section 12 of the Banking Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2020, for the purpose of Conversion of the aforesaid Bank,” said Anshumman Joshi, Chairman, Dhanvarsha Group. Joshi is widely known as a saviour of the Cooperative Banking Sector. “The private placement agreement will be in the larger interest of all the Depositors and Shareholders of the Bank. We will infuse the required fund Share Capital through our Group in phases. With in- principle approval by RBI, we would convert it to a Small Finance Bank through our Alternative Investment Fund (White & Brooks AIF LLP) which is under the process of licensing with SEBI. We are interested to convert this State Level Co-operative Bank to a Smal Finance Bank as per the relevant RBI Norms,” added Mr Joshi. Dhanvarsha Group has submitted the private placement proposal and a copy of the agreement to the RBI, Union Finance Minister, Cooperative Commissioner, Govt of Maharashtra, Pune.
“The private placement agreement to infuse required money in the form of share capital has come as a boon to us this will help us converting our Bank to a Small Finance Bank in the near future. The agreement would also put us on our toes to make all efforts to accelerate the growth of the bank. We are thankful to Dhanvarsha Group which has come forward with a robust plan,” said Mr Dilip Yashwant Atre, Chairman, Samarth Sahakari Bank.
“We have signed the private placement agreement essentially to convert our bank into a small finance bank. Now, with new provisions, a cooperative bank may issue, by way of public issue or private placement, equity shares or preference shares or special shares, on face value or at a premium,” added Santosh Kulkarni, CEO, Samarth Sahakari Bank.
According to Mr Rakesh Tolye, Director of the Bank, the private placement agreement and infusion of money through equity shares or other modes like special/preference shares would unlock higher valuation. Going forward when the bank will be listed, the investment by the Dhanvarsha Group will create extremely high value for each shareholder.
Now a cooperative bank can also get funds through unsecured debentures or bonds or other securities with an initial or original maturity of not less than ten years, to any member of such cooperative banks or any other person residing within its area of operation.

The Bank is under All Inclusive Directions (AID) imposed by the RBI as per Section 35(a) Banking Regulations Act. 1949. Under AID, the RBI restricts the bank from discharging its liabilities except as permitted by the central bank. The RBI, under sub-section (1) of Section 35 A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 has extended the Directions Cancellation of License) till January 16, 2023. “Directions under Section 35 A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 – The City Co-operative Bank Limited, Mumbai – Extension of period The Reserve Bank of India, vide directive DCBS.CO.BSD-I/D-5/12.22.039/2017- 18 dated April 17, 2018, had placed The City Co-operative Bank Ltd, Mumbai under Directions from the close of business on April 17, 2018. The validity of the directions was extended from time to time, the last being up to October 16, 2022,” the RBI said in its Press Release. “It is hereby notified … the Reserve bank of India, in the exercise of powers vested in it under sub-section (1) of Section 35 A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, hereby directs that the aforesaid Directions shall continue to apply to the bank till January 16, 2023, as per the directive DOR.MON.D-35/12.22.039/2022-23 dated October 13, 2022,” it said. “The City Cooperative Bank, Mumbai has entered into a Private Placement Agreement with Dhanvarsha Group which has offered to infuse Rs 230 crore for the revival. We, in the last Quarter, have made a robust recovery of loans and NPAs and in this Quarter (October-December) also we are making all efforts for good recovery to strengthen our financial position. We are treading on a revival path with an infusion of funds from the Dhanvarsha Group. We would greatly appreciate the RBI’s out-of-the-box thinking and the support of Maharashtra Cooperative Ministry for considering our revival proposal,” said Mr Anandrao Adsul (Ex-MP), Chairman, the City Cooperative Bank, Mumbai. . Dhanvarsha Group, a leading business conglomerate engaged in several sectors including finance and banking, has offered a comprehensive revival package for the City Cooperative Bank Ltd., Mumbai and entered into an Agreement for Private Placement has executed pertaining to an Investment of Rs.230 crore into the bank as per Section 12 of the Banking Regulations Amendment Act 2020. Dhanvarsh Group is all set to initially infuse Rs 230 crore to meet the capital requirements of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Agreement for Private Placement was signed on July 28y 2022. The proposal for revival was submitted to the RBI. It is reliably learnt that the Banking Regulator has been considering a few revival packages seriously and had sought some mandatory documents including the financials of the Dhanvarsha Group which had duly submitted the asked documents last month. In a letter and proposal to the Union Finance Minister, Maharashtra Cooperative Ministry, and the RBI, Dhanvarsha Group has prayed that the All-Inclusive Directions imposed on The City Co-operative Bank Ltd., Mumbai be revoked and its proposal should be considered seriously in the larger interest of the Depositors of the Bank. The Bankers, investors, and experts strongly advocate that the RBI should go for out-of-the-box thinking to fulfil India’s dream of ‘One Cooperative Bank in Each District’, as envisioned by the Union Cooperation Minister Mr Amit Shah who was instrumental in amending the Banking Act 2020. With recent (2020) amendments to the Banking Regulation Act, a cooperative bank may, with the prior approval of the Reserve Bank, issue, by way of public issue or private placement, equity shares or preference shares or special shares, on face value or at a premium. “For the benefit of members/depositors and stakeholders, we are making all efforts to revive the Bank. It is encouraging that the Dhanvarsha Group has come forward with a robust revival plan. Now, with new provisions, a cooperative bank may, with the prior approval of the Reserve Bank, issue, by way of public issue or private placement, equity shares or preference shares or special shares, on face value or at a premium,” said Mr Arthur Rebello, CEO, The City Cooperative Bank.
The new laws allow a cooperative bank also to get funds through unsecured debentures or bonds or other securities with an initial or original maturity of not less than ten years, to any member of such a cooperative bank or any other person residing within its area of operation. “The RBI needs to focus on rational policies in the interest of depositors and stakeholders and should take landmark decisions based on the amended Banking Act 2020 for the revival of the sector with the private placement. The sector should be opened for private investors,” said Dhanvarsha Group Chairman Anshumman Joshi, who is known as a saviour of cooperative banking in India.
According to experts in the sector, the RBI should take a path-breaking landmark decision for the revival of the cooperative banks in the interest of depositors and the cooperative sector as cancellation of the licenses does not offer any solution to the depositors. In fact, it is the death of the Cooperative Movement in the country. The RBI’s initiatives and out-of-the-box thinking can transform the way funding or investment is done in the sector and fulfil the dreams of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, who is very keen to provide fresh momentum to the sector.

Speaking about the clippings and the scene, director Ranjit M Tewari added,”Akshay sir’s character – Arjan Sethi is obsessed with the crime world and the world of serial killing. He starts the journey as a character of a filmmaker in the Punjabi film industry, who is obsessed and has done research over 7 to 10 years to make a film on the crime world. So when we were creating his world – the house and the setting, it was very important for me to give him a space in which he feels part of Arjan Sethi rather than anyone else, and Arjan as a character is immersed, obsessed himself in this world of crime. So therefore, we thought, what can we do that is not subtle but impactful for him, so we just dressed up the entire wall with news paper cuttings and photographers of real people, so that he gets a feel to it while shooting, that he has lived this life, that he has been part of this life. The art department, production designers and ADs, we all came together and we decided to find the real images, and real newspaper articles written on them, so that we could setup the space to make him feel a part of Arjan Sethi as much as he could. So we decided to have them from archive, research and websites, find the real images of those times, whether it is Ted Bundy, or Seema Gavit, or Cyanide Mohan, all these people from India as well as from people abroad who are serial killers and real articles and put it up on the wall and when Akshay sir saw it for the first time before shooting, he was so so happy with the kind of detailing that went into building the foundation from where he could start shooting the film.”

(Mumbai, June 22, 2022) – Vietjet has officially launched four more services linking top destinations of India and Vietnam including Mumbai – Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi routes and New Delhi/Mumbai – Phu Quoc services.
The new routes’ launch ceremony was held in Mumbai during the visit of Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders to Mumbai as India and Vietnam mark their 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Phan Thi Thang, Vice Chairwoman of People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of Consulate General of Vietnam in Mumbai along with Vietjet’s leaders.
The Mumbai – Phu Quoc route will operate four weekly flights on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, starting September 9, 2022. The services between New Delhi and Phu Quoc will also commence on September 9, 2022 with three weekly flights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi – Mumbai routes started operation in early June, 2022.
The two countries’ two first direct services connecting New Delhi with Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi resumed operation earlier this year in April with the frequency of three to four flights per week for each route. Passengers can book these routes’ air tickets now with fares starting as low as US$18 for one way. (*)

In line with this theme, P.D Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre commemorated World Environment Day 2022 by partnering with a sand artist to create an interesting sand art. The sand art was used as a medium to remind citizens of the growing need to sustain and protect the environment.
In addition to this, children of the hospital staff painted the wall opposite the hospital with messages and their vision of a sustained environment and safer planet. The hospital also ran an internal campaign to encourage their staff to reduce use of paper by celebrating this World Environment Day as No Paper Printing Day in their non-patient operations. With 24 trees being cut to produce 1 tonner of standard office paper whilst Recycling 1 ton of paper saves around 682.5 gallons of oil, 26,500 litres of water and 17 trees.

वयाच्या पंचाहत्तरीत सुद्धा त्यांचा उत्साह अफाट आहे वेड चित्रपटा संदर्भात त्यांना विचारले असता त्यांनी भरभरून प्रतिक्रिया दिली . अशोक सराफ म्हणाले जेव्हा मला कळालं वेड चित्रपटाचे दिग्दर्शन रितेश देशमुख करत आहेत तेव्हा कोणता ही पुढचा मागचा विचार न करता मी होकार दिला कारण माझ्या दृष्टीने हे महत्वाचे होते कि तो दिग्दर्शक बनतोय . रितेश एक टॅलेंटेड आर्टिस्ट आहेच त्यामुळे तो दिग्दर्शन करत असतांना मला देखील काही नवीन शिकता येईल हा माझा हेतू होता आणि खरं सांगतो या चित्रपटाचे शूटिंग मी इतका एन्जॉय केलं , धम्माल मजा केली . रितेश हा अतिशय थंड डोक्याने सेट वर काम करत होता कुठे ही त्याने एक्साइटमेंट दाखवली नाही . प्रत्येक सिनवर विचारपूर्वक काम रितेश ने केलं आहे. असे थंड डोक्याने काम करणारे फार कमी दिग्दर्शक आहेत आणि मला वाटतं रितेश च्या रूपाने आपल्याला नवीन दिग्दर्शक मिळाला आहे . वेड हा चित्रपट अतिशय उत्तम बनला आहे यात काहीच शंका नाही . आणखी एक बाब म्हणजे या चित्रपटा द्वारे रितेश ची वाइफ जेनेलिया मराठीतून पदार्पण करत आहे . तिने पण मराठी समजून घेऊन उत्तम काम केले आहे. या सर्व अनुभवातून एकच सांगावेसे वाटते कि माझ्या आयुष्यात एक चांगला चित्रपट केल्याचा फील मला आला . या चित्रपटाच्या निमित्ताने रितेश म्हणून मला एक चांगला मित्र भेटला असं मी म्हणेल .
रितेश देशमुख ने त्यावर प्रतिक्रिया दिली , गेले २० वर्षांपासून मी सिनेसृष्टीत काम करतोय आणि अशोक मामांसोबत काम करण्याची संधी मला कधीच मिळाली नव्हती . जेव्हा वेड चित्रपटाच्या लेखनाचे काम सुरु होते तेव्हा कुठे तरी वाटत होते या चित्रपटात अशोक मामांची भूमिका असावी म्हणजे जेणेकरून अशोक मामांसोबत काम करण्याचे माझे स्वप्न पूर्ण होईल . मी पहिला चित्रपट दिग्दर्शित करतोय आणि त्यात अशोक मामा आहेत हे सर्व स्वप्नवत आहे. अशोक मामांना सोबत काम करण्याचा अनुभव विलक्षण होता मुळात त्यांचा अनुभव दांडगा आहे त्यामुळे एखादा विनोदी सिन करतांना त्यांनी आपल्या अनुभवातून त्यात आवश्यक ते बदल करून त्यात जान आणत . एका दिग्दर्शकाला आपला लाडका अभिनेता आपण लिहून दिलेल्या सिन पेक्षा खूप काही आपल्या अभिनय कौशल्यातून देतो तेव्हा आणखी काय हवंय … आज अशोक मामांचा ७५ वा वाढदिवस आहे त्यानिमित्ताने मी त्यांना खूप खूप खूप शुभेच्छा देतो आणि त्यांना दीर्घायुष्य लाभो ही प्रार्थना करतो .
